Beattie: No panic at Goodison Published: 2005-08-02 09:21:56
Everton striker James Beattie has insisted that there is no panic at the club despite the 5-0 friendly defeat by  Fenerbahce

Beattie said:

"I thought it was a bit of a lesson really. They were a good side and we were given a few lessons,"

"But hopefully we can learn from them and take that into the European tie. I am sure everybody will be disappointed, as we are, but you have got to take positives from every game.

"Hopefully we can heed the lessons for the European game next week."

He added: "We are trying to take positives out of the game. There is no point getting downhearted because if we do that and dwell on it too much that is no good for anybody.

"We just have to move on and get everybody going. The game doesn't mean anything at the end of the day. But hopefully we can learn the lessons."

Porto to ruin McCarthy's Premiership dream Published: 2005-07-29 12:11:20
Porto striker Benni McCarthy feels his current club Porto will ruin the chance for him to make his 'dream' move to the Premiership

South African International McCarthy said:

"My option is always open and that has always been a dream for me as a youngster and I still think I can have an opportunity to go there, but for the moment I just have to complete my contract because things look difficult," McCarthy, who is being targeted by Blackburn, West Ham and Everton, told Sky Sports News.

"The reason why I didn't move is because Porto didn't let me leave because they needed me and this was not the perfect time for me to go.

"Like I said, in football nowadays the only thing that talks is money, and if clubs give the transfer fees that teams want then you shouldn't have any problem, but if money doesn't come into action then nothing can happen.

"I think at this point, Porto really wanted me to stay and the coach made it clear he wants to play me, so the reason I will leave this year is if a club comes and gives Porto the money they want - that's the only way I can leave.

"But I have to complete (my contract) because I am employed by Porto so I have keep on working daily."

"We are now in the market with clubs such as Middlesbrough, Charlton and Everton for players. We are still searching for players and I speak to the manager many times every day to discuss potential targets.

Rovers and Villa join Bellamy chase Published: 2005-07-05 09:40:12

Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa are reported to have re-joined the chase for troubled Newcastle star Craig Bellamy.

Bellamy, who held talks with Everton manager David Moyes over the weekend, will now decide if he will speak to Rovers or Villa about a proposed move or join Champions League qualifiers.

A conclusion to the deal is expected this week as Bellamy has been told he must join pre-season training at Newcastle next Monday if no move is agreed.

Toffees to wrap up Bellamy move Published: 2005-07-04 13:42:18

Craig Bellamy is said to be close to agreeing a £6m move from Newcastle United to Everton

The remaing problem in the deal will be if Everton will match Bellamy's £45,000 a week wage demands or if the player will lower these to clinch the deal at the Chamions League qualifiers.

Everton set to pull plug on Bellamy offer Published: 2005-06-26 15:31:09

Everton chiefs are set to drop talks with Newcastle United for striker Craig Bellamy.

The Guardian says Everton had hoped to sign Bellamy, who spent the final four months of last season on loan at Celtic after falling out with Graeme Souness at St James' Park, for a cut-price £3m.

But, though manager David Moyes has not given up all hope of signing him, the Everton hierarchy have grown increasingly frustrated at the Wales international's wage demands.

It is belived the Welsh striker is on £45,000 a week at Newcaslte.

Bellamy to plea to souey Published: 2005-06-25 12:33:17
Bellamy has apparently insisted he wants to stay on Tyneside despite his bitter feud with the magpies manager.
After the outblasts and alleged text messages to Alan Shearer claiming he was past it, it looked like the quick paced Striker was finished at the toon for good.  Newspaper reports claimed that Bellamy was a goner but a reluctance on Celtics part to pay the £5 Million asking price has led to belief that the sparky forward will try and keep his head down over the next few weeks in an attempt to win over his furious manager.  Suggestions that he turned down offers from Blackburn, Aston Villa, Everton and Birmingham mean at present either way Craig Bellamy will return to pre-season training on the 4th July.
Souness back in for Andrade Published: 2005-06-24 10:07:45
Deportivo La Coruna defender Jorge Andrade claims that Newcastle are interested in him

Souness enquired about the defender as a partner for Jean-Alain Boumsong back in January but it is understood the defender is more likely to leave now that he is in the final year of his contract.

Meanwhile Souness has flown out to meet Emre to convince him that a move to St James Park is the right one to make.  Everton have dropped out of the running due to player salary expected to be around £60,000 per week.

It is now unlikely that Figo will join the Magpies.  His representatives are demanding around £90,000 per week with a minimum one year contract.  Freddy Shepherd has already been stung once this year with Kluivert failing to repay the amount invested him during his stay.
