| Charlton Athletic boss Alan Curbishley has confirmed that he is interested in bringing Newcastle United midfielder Lee Bowyer to the Valley. |
| Curbishley said.
"I know if Lee was to leave Newcastle I think he would like to come back to London but that has not been a secret. We will have to see and the transfer market has a domino effect and there has not been much so far,"
"We have done a bit of business and I am very pleased but if I can do a bit more I will." |
| Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan hope that the club can add 2 new players to the squad before the start of the season. |
But Sullivan said this summer has been "the most difficult summer by a million miles" since he took over at Blues 12 years ago in terms of attempting to make new signings.
"It is really hard to attract the players we want and this has been the most difficult summer for us by a million miles since I joined the club.
"We are now in the market with clubs such as Middlesbrough, Charlton and Everton for players. We are still searching for players and I speak to the manager many times every day to discuss potential targets.
"Even though we have added Pennant, Forssell and Nafti to our squad this summer, we still want another striker and another midfielder.
"We want them before the transfer window shuts - and I am still confident that we will get them in." |

Ambrose said:
"I think he will be interested, said Ambrose. "I don't know what's going on behind the scenes but if he comes he will be a good signing.
"He is a good lad, he has got good team spirit, good banter in the changing room and he will be a good character to come here. It will be good." |
| Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley has thanked Jose Mourinho for loaning the club midfielder Alexei Smertin for the 2005/2006 season. |
Curbishley said -
"I would like to thank Jose Mourinho for allowing Alexei to join us on a season-long loan deal.
"He is a flexible player and can play in so many positions - he gives us extra options and makes our squad that much bigger." |
| Charlton Athletic boss Alan Curbishley has stated that he wants 5 more signings before the start of the new Premiership season. |
|
Curbishley said -
"I've sacrificed the first two weeks of training to get as many transfers as I can. I want to shake things up and bring in even more players.
"We are looking to bring in another four, maybe five. I want to bring players in and bolster that squad up.
"We decided we needed a bit of turnaround and a change around. I want players who want to come in here and grasp things because that gives the rest of them a bit of a spur on as well." |
| West Ham United have made an approach for Inter Milan winger Kily Gonzalez. |
The People newspaper says Upton Park boss Alan Pardew has made an approach for the Argentina international, who has been told he can leave by Inter coach Roberto Mancini.

|
| Manchester United youngster Jonathan Spector on loan for the 2005/2006 season. |
Spector had agreed a similar loan deal at Blackburn Rovers in January but the deal was cancelled by Man Utd boss Alex Ferguson as he needed cover for his squad.
Charlton manager Alan Curbishley told his club's official website: "He's a defender who can play anywhere across the back four. He made his debut for Man Utd at left-back, and like a lot of defenders sees himself as centre back. He can play right back as well.
"That's what I like about him, his versatility.
"He's very quick, is two-footed and can pass the ball very well. He gets tight to forwards and is a very good athlete."
He continued: "He's a bit like Kieran Richardson in the sense he has limited opportunities; he's had a few games but was finding it hard to break in.
"I think we beat off some competition in the end - there's a few clubs that would have liked him. He's come in here desperate to get in the first team to show everybody what he can do."
He also added: "I asked after him again at the end of the season and Alex agreed to let us have him.
"Jonathan sees this as an opportunity to perhaps try and get some first team games but he knows he's got to get in the team first. After his first days' training we're all very happy with him." |
