Rumours in South America are circulating that Mexico manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will be sacked tonight.

Mexican Football Federation (FMF) director Nestor de la Torre comments point to the former England and Manchester City boss being axed, after a Mexico lost 3-1 away to Honduras in a World Cup qualifier last night.

“We will carry out a deep analysis of the results we have obtained and they way we have played,” he said. “He (Eriksson) is waiting for the decision we will take at a meeting we will have with the members of the National Teams committee.”

FMF president Justino Compean added: “The measures which we will take will be for the good of the Mexican team and we will take any decision we have to, no matter how difficult or hard it may be. It’s difficult for us to not pick up points away from home.
